Our Vision

A world where everyone thrives

and realizes their dreams

A glimpse into what we do

History

Early in 2000 under the leadership of Dr Henry Moore, members of four congregations in the Diocese of West Texas began a joint mission effort in Honduras. The Bishop of Honduras, The Right Rev. Leo Frade extended an invitation to us with the vision of planting a church in the colonia of Nueva Esperanza (new hope), which is an underserved community in the heart of Danli, Honduras.

“In 1999 Bishop Frade asked St. Andrew's Episcopal in Seguin if we would start an Episcopal church in an underserved neighborhood in Danlí called Nueva Esperanza.   I immediately said yes! When Christ took over my life, I had no idea where He would lead, I only knew I would follow. After many trips to Honduras as a missionary doctor, I believed in my heart that the solution to many of the country’s problems could be addressed through education and job training. In 2000, along with my wife Joan, I led the first mission trip to Danlí following a call to serve others. Throughout all these years, the Lord has made me much more aware of the needs of others and what I can do to help. I can only hope and pray that I have been an inspiration to others''. (Dr. Henry Moore).

The original four churches were St. Andrew's, Seguin, St. Francis by the Lake, Canyon Lake, St. John's, New Braunfels, and St. Mark's, San Marcos.  Since then, many other churches have contributed to the cause, either by sending missionaries or with generous donations. including Emmanuel Church in San Angelo, St Christopher’s in Bandera, St Andrew’s in Torrance, CA, St Luke’s in Baton Rouge and St Patrick’s in Colorado Springs, CO.

In addition, the World Mission Department of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas has provided support throughout the years. Missionaries from all over Texas and as far away as California, Louisiana, Colorado, Massachusetts, District of Columbia, and New York have gone on weeklong mission trips to Danlí, Honduras.   The new congregation in Honduras has grown and prospered and the current Bishop of Honduras, The Right Rev Lloyd Allen has said that our mission in Danlí has been a pilot and an inspiration for many other mission teams in the country.

After many years of hard work, dedication, generous donations, and constant prayers, we have been able to plant and build a church in Nueva Esperanza. In addition, we have built a vocational center and have worked in various social areas with the purpose of empowering the members of the community and helping them become self-sufficient.
