About Me
Q. Name and Vocation?
A. My name is Daniel “Dani” Jaime and I am a missionary for the Diocese of West Texas with Manos de Dios serving as their Communication Coordinator.
Q. How did you find out about Manos?
A. I found out about Manos de Dios one day when I was scrolling through Instagram and came upon a post by the Diocese of West Texas World Missions department. Manos de Dios was looking for applicants for a travel award to go on a mission trip to Honduras with them. I had always wanted to explore Latin America so I prayed about it. I applied and the rest is history! God is good in mysterious ways!
Q. Favorite Quote?
A. I have several quotes that I like, but one that always stays with me is from the novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. “Stay gold, Ponyboy, stay gold.” This quote comes from a character by the name of Johnny Cade on his deathbed, asking his best friend Ponyboy to stay gold. Basically, Johnny is asking Pony to remain untainted by his environment and circumstances and to continue believing that purity and beauty can exist in the world. It is in reference to “Nothing Gold Can Stay”, a poem by Robert Frost that Pony shares with Johnny.
Q. Fun Fact?
A. I am a lifelong fan of Dinosaurs! My favorite movies are the Jurassic Park movies and I currently own a collection of several JP and non-JP dinosaurs and merch. My very first dinosaurs were actually a gift from my childhood priest and his family!
