Celebrating 25 Years Of Transforming Lives

ree

Introduction

In the year 2000, Dr. Henry Moore and members of four congregations in the Diocese of West Texas got together to answer the call from the Bishop of Honduras, The Right Rev. Leo Frade. They were invited to plant a church in the colonia of Nueva Esperanza, "New Hope" in the heart of Danli, Honduras.

25 years later, this mission trip has grown into a full-fledged ministry through the hands that have come together spreading like wings and covering a multitude of sub-ministries in the now 25 years old "Manos de Dios Episcopal Church that resides in Nueva Esperanza.

Looking Back

The 25 years that have gone by since that fateful moment at the turn of the millennium have been like a perpetual climb up a mountain. This climb has been one of uneven roads and never-ending vistas, with rest stops along the way to stretch your legs. The real treat, however, is getting to see God's creation from even higher vantage points as we continue to ascend.

This "ascension" is what can best describe the last 25 years for Manos. It has been a constant rise in opportunities and expansion, but also responsibilities, requiring the coordinated effort of many people. Thankfully, there is always room on the bus and this bus has seated so many special souls. Our people are what keep us going!

So, we wanted to celebrate this milestone of a quarter of a century by looking back and reflecting on everyone that has been a part of Manos, whether as a volunteer or a supporter! None of this could have been possible without you, so if you have ever been involved in this mission, thank you! (That includes you, the reader!)

Looking Ahead

One thing is for certain, only God knows the future. However, we can confidently say that it was God who carried us during these last 25 faithful years of ministry. Who’s to say he won’t carry us even farther? We invite you to remain faithful with us and answer any and all calls to ministry and mission work. Who knows where you’ll be 25 years from now!
